At the beginning of January 2023 we helped run an SCTS course in Leamington Spa.

Delegates split into teams of cardiac and thoracic and got to experience many procedures related to the specialities. The Cardiac side of the room worked on hearts to practice coronary bypass surgery, aortic root, aortic valve replacement, mitral and tricuspid valve repair.

The thoracic side worked on lungs, tracheas and chests to experience tracheal resection, sleeve resection with Medtronic staplers and chest wall reconstruction with a biological patch.

It was a great laid back course which allowed the participants to relax and tailor the course to themselves, they got to pick and choose which subjects they were most interested in and could spend as much time on what they wanted to.
